Minerals, Vitamins, Diet and Balance
By Dr. Michael Jonas Kahn Ph.D. Nutritional Science

The principle source of health for the body comes from the minerals and vitamins. It is these elements that are the building blocks of not only the physical body, but all the chemicals and hormones that regulate the body, as well as the immune system itself. Because everything is constructed from the minerals and vitamins, especially the minerals (with the vitamins basically acting as catalyst's).

In other words, the body is like a finely constructed watch needing all its components to work correctly---80 some minerals and the vitamins. None of which if missing, or sufficiently deficient, will let it work at optimum health. In a 160 lb. person there will be 150 lbs. of water and carbon, 5 lbs. of calcium, 2.5 lbs. of phosphorus, 5 oz. each of potassium and sodium, 3 oz. of magnesium, silicon, chlorine, and magnesium, right on down to the trace elements such as iodine at approximately 1/15000 of a gram, etc. This is true for every human being, and to the extent it is not true will have a powerful effect on determining his overall bodies pH balance, metabolism, digestive strength, body weight and long term health.

So, for this extremely intricate and complicated watch called the body (consisting of billions of parts) to work correctly, it has to have all these elements in sufficient proportion to operate. All coming from the minerals and vitamins, which are mostly available from the natural foods---fruits, vegetables, rice, grains and beans, animal products and low fat dairy you should be getting in a balanced diet.

Thus, the basis of your diet should be the natural foods. Which when not followed becomes the main reasons for most disease. And thus the effects of a society that is hell bent on too much junk and fried food, soda, excess carbo's, fat, and now protein (since the body is limited as to how much protein it can digest). The excess of protein clogging up the blood stream, causing everything from high blood pressure and strokes, to colon cancer (when the body is unable to expel it, turning it into diverticulous pockets. The average person carrying between 10-30 lbs. or more by the age of twenty five). All evident today by the degree of diseases, weight problems and colon cancer being experienced as people age. (Adkins dieters beware and make sure your getting enough fiber!)

So basically you get sick, constipated, cancer, arthritis, headaches, etc., mainly for two reasons:

First, because you don't have the elements necessary to build the antibodies to combat the bacteria and viruses.

Secondly, because your body is so over loaded with an accumulation of fat, protein or sugar. All from a poor (unbalanced) diet either excessively high in simple carb's, fat or protein, and not enough of the fibrous, high in mineral and vitamin foods that keep it in balance, and by their high fibre content help "clean it out."

But, detoxify the body with a balanced diet, and bring it into balance by consistently feeding it the foods and water it needs to function properly, and it will, for the majority of people work very well; suffering little in the way of long term degenerative diseases, digestive and weight problems brought about by an unbalanced diet. Which the taking of medications and drugs to treat these "symptoms of unbalance" will never be the answer in the long run to getting in balance and true long term health. Only done by correcting your diet and unbalanced body chemistry pH by rebalancing it and cleaning it up with a good diet. Like Jesus said, "Physician heal thyself." Or Hippocrates, the father of medicine, said, "Let simple foods and water be thy remedies." Need anyone say more?
