===>Most Popular Diets Flawed<===
Kahnment'z:The most popular diets are generally unbalanced
approaches to eating that can only have the long term effects of
leading to vitamin/mineral deficiencies, weakened digestions and
metabolisms depending on how unbalanced your diet is.
Too much protein leading to just as many dangerous
health problems as too many carbohydrates! Though in the case of protein
we are talking about clogged arteries of the heart and brain leading
to more dramatic and permanent health effects SOONER
then later.
Thus, to achieve optimum health and proper weight, and to maintain it for the
LONG TERM, an eventual change to a balanced diet will be necessary.
Which then will bring both your body chemistry and weight back in
balance for optimum health.
===>Minerals, Vitamins, Diet and Balance<=== ====================================================================== Thus, the body is like a finely constructed watch needing all its components to work correctly---84 such minerals and the vitamins. None of which if missing, or sufficiently deficient, will let it work at optimum health. In a 160 lb. person there will be 150 lbs. of water and carbon, 5 lbs. of calcium, 2.5 lbs. of phosphorus, 5 oz. each of potassium and sodium, 3 oz. of magnesium, silicon, chlorine, and magnesium, right on down to the trace elements such as iodine at approximately 1/15000 of a gram, etc. This is true for every human being, and to the extent it is not true will have a powerful effect on determining overall pH balance, metabolism, digestive strength, body weight and long term health. So, the basis of your diet should be the natural foods in a balanced diet, which when not followed becomes the main reasons for most disease. And where diets with excesses of protein, fat, carbo's or sugar end up clogging the blood stream and body. This causing everything from high blood pressure and strokes, to colon cancer, diabetes and weight problems. Evident today by the high degree of sickness being experienced at earlier and earlier ages.
However, bring the body into balance with a balanced diet, and for the majority of people it will lead to overall health; suffering little in the way of long term degenerative diseases, digestive and weight problems mostly brought about by a poor diet. Which also the taking of medications and drugs to treat "symptoms of being out of balance" will never be the answer to long term health solutions. Or as Jesus suggested, "physician heal thyself." Or Hippocrates (the father of medicine), stated, "let simple foods and water be thy remedies." Need anyone say more? OK. I will... "I ditto that."
====================================================================== -Am. J. Clin. Nut. 2000; 71:142-51
Vegetables & Prostate Cancer: Men who eat 3 or more servings of
vegetables daily have less than half (48 %) the risk of developing
prostate cancer than men who do not. Greatest benefit was associated
with cruciferous vegetables (Cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, and
Brussel sprouts).
===>Low Carb Diets<=== ====================================================================== Eating vegetables, fruits, whole grains and beans, which are all predominantly (complex) carbohydrates, is linked to a reduced risk of cancer, heart disease, stroke, diabetes and a range of other chronic diseases. Piling on the animal protein and fat are "increasing the risk of developing cancer, heart disease, stroke, type-2 diabetes and other chronic diseases". The U.S. government, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, National Cancer Institute and American Diabetes Association all recommend getting five servings a day of fruits and vegetables. Studies show that a low-carbohydrate approach can cause people to lose weight more quickly than a low-fat diet for the first six months, BUT the low-fat approach catches up after a year. Thus, once again, the answer to our diet questions is the balanced diet: high in fruits, veggies, rice, grains, and beans with moderate protein and low fat dairy. The message being that any unbalanced approach to eating that is "too" high in protein, fat, carbs, sugar or anything is going to lead to an unbalanced body and all the consequent health problems (from obesity, to cancer, arthritis, heart problems, stroke and diabetes) that are the result. Why? Because excess protein, carbs and sugar are ALL stored as fat when not needed, or end up as pockets in the colon if not digested (leading to cancers of the colon), which is exactly why balance in your eating is the goal to aim for!
===>The USDA Food Pyramid<=== ====================================================================== People thought the pyramids recommendation of 6 to 11 daily servings from the grains group, such as bread, meant they could have anywhere from 6 to 11 servings. And only does it become clearer in supplemental material that six servings are for people who don't burn a lot of calories in a day, such as sedentary women and some older adults. Eleven servings are for those with high-revved metabolisms, such as teenage boys. Federal officials say about 80 percent of Americans recognize the pyramid, but about 66 percent are overweight or obese. Similarly, an Associated Press-Ipsos poll found in May that 30 percent of Americans think the nation's top health problem is overeating, but only 12 percent said they were dieting.
Kahnment'z: The holistic answer is not in
the "Food Pyramid" or dieting, nor any kind of unbalanced diet plan (be it too
high in protein, fat, carbs...or for that matter Pop Tarts). But instead,
for the truly long term holistic solutions, learning
to eat in balance. Because in the "long run" an
unbalanced diet with too much protein, fat, carbs, sugar or what have
you will ultimately lead to an unbalanced overweight body.
===>CDC: Arthritis Now Effects 25-40% of Americans!<=== ====================================================================== The Centers for Disease Control annonuced, TWENTY FIVE PERCENT of American adults have been diagnosed with arthritis and another 17 percent may be suffering from the crippling disease, and that arthritis is the leading cause of disability in the United States. Those diagnosed with arthritis ranged from a low of 17.8 percent in Hawaii to a high of 35.8 percent in Alabama, according to a CDC 30 state survey. Americans spent $51.1 billion on medical treatment for arthritis in 1997, with lost earnings due to hospitalization, illness and disability added up to $35.1 billion.
Kahnment'z: It is best to PREVENT arthritis before it
begins with a combination of a proper balanced diet and exercise (or
a job that requires physical labor is good enough). To TREAT arthritis
once you begin to feel joint pain is ALSO a good balanced diet and exercise.
Drugs and medications do nothing but mask the symptomatic pain (though
if you need pain medication you need it), or they postpone the
progression temporarily that will eventually grow worse
into restricted movement and atrophy, UNLESS the life style and eating
habits are changed.
Arthritis is NOT a disease, but simply a result of a body chemistry
that has become either too acid or too alkaline. This state of health brought
about by calcium deficiencies from a diet that is either unbalanced, deficient,
toxic or all the above. And where a simple "mean"
pH tape test (done correctly) can reveal a person's
state of pH balance, and thus
warn a person or help him with the changes to diet or supplements
that would be best to bring him back to balance
before suffering the long term consequences of a bad diet.
===>Antibiotic Overuse<=== ====================================================================== The move comes out of concern over the growing number of germs that have become antibiotic-resistant. Many common infections are now impervious to penicillin and other formerly reliable antibiotics. When people are given these types of drugs for sicknesses such as colds or flu's that don't require antibiotic treatment the chances of germs becoming resistant goes up. The FDA's proposed labels would caution doctors to prescribe antibiotics only when necessary.
Kahnment'z:
The above especially true with the overuse of antibiotics in children
and in particular those with minor ear infections. Where a little hydrogen
peroxide would knock out 99.9%
of these within 24 hours, using something like tylenol as a way to
combat the discomfort until the infection subsides.
The rest of the overuse of antibiotic's coming with minor colds and
flu's, where children are routinely given a course of antibiotics for
every sniffle, sneeze and fever that comes along. Totally unnecessary
and interfering with "natures way" of learning to deal with these
things.
Remembering (in the case of fevers) this is the bodies way of combating
bacteria or virus's. Something we do not want to interrupt unless too
high and prolonged. But again, we may treat the accompanying symptoms with
an aspirin or tylenol type product depending on the age.
Finally, antibiotics (like most prescription drugs and hormones) often
end up getting deposited in the fatty tissue (the mammary glands of women
an ideal place, as well as the liver and lungs for men and women). Thus,
there is a potential for long term cancer problems as these
deposits become more concentrated and malignant.
